Denbighshire County Council and Cymorth funding- good news

Just received a letter from Sally Ellis , Chair of  Denbighshire's Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership in which she confirms that " for the majority of schemes currently funded under Cymorth , their "fit" with the new grant criteria i.e. Families First will not be completely clear. In order to avoid uncertainty it is proposed that for these schemes, existing Cymorth funding is continued until the end of  September 2011, to allow time to establish a new commissioning process and to maximise continuity"

This is good news because currently the situation was stark namely all grant funding was to cease 31st March 2011 which in effect would have resulted in the closure of some much valued and needed voluntary organisations.

Meanwhile Sally Ellis confirms that members of the DCC partnership Support Team will contact all grant receiving organisations over the next few weeks to discuss which  categories their project lies in and whether or not there will be a possibility of additional funding until September 2011.

Of course what the communication is also saying implicity that for those organisations that will not qualify under the new funding regime there will an opportunity , following discussions with members of the Partnership Support Team , to seek alternative funding to continue operations essentially 9 months notice to look elsewhere.
