Just heard that the 100% cut to our Millennium Volunteering (MV) funding has been cancelled. This means we can now bid for the £5000 for the next financial year. Given all the bad news about public spending cuts its so easy to become despondent and for staff to lose that spark. I think from this experience we have just had around the MV scheme its highlighting the power of lobbying in raising the awareness of the decision makers as to the impact of the cut i.e. what effect it will have in the community . In our case the hundreds/thousands of organisations and young people who have embraced the MV scheme so enthusiastically and delivered some fantastic volunteering activities within our local communities.
