Rhyl PACT - whats happening? and its good news

I am told by some that my approach and style is combative and not conducive to partnership working and by others to be just right. So as they say you can't please everyone all the time. Why do I mention this, well I feel that my campaigning on behalf of the Third sector bore fruit yesterday when the Rhyl PACT was reconvened after a gap of two years and during a period of significant change namely the establishment of the North Wales Regeneration Area (NWRA).

My concern with the former Rhyl PACT which I had made known to Denbighshire County Council , was two fold and which I have listed in the DVSC newsletter at regular intervals:

1.That it excluded the Third Sector apart from myself and as such the membership consisted entirely of officers from the statutory agencies. Not an ideal mix for an inclusive approach to the regeneration of Rhyl.

2. The funding from the NWRA had not permeated down to the Third Sector in the same way as in Baylife in Colwyn Bay.

Well here is the good news and to the credit of Denbighshire County Council they have listened to my concerns and have now re-established the Rhyl PACT and increased its membership to incorporate more organisations from the Third Sector and with the assistance of the Welsh Assembly Government in the form of NWRA have set out the scoring criteria for future funding of capital projects.
So I can see real partnership working going forward where the Third Sector is able to contribute and be engaged in the regeneration of Rhyl given that they can not only assist in the design of the schemes but also deliver as they will be able to access funding .Admittedly it is capital only but nevertheless this is a really good positive step forward.
