I had a meeting with Ceri Brooks yesterday who explained how the census would be conducted next year. Ceri is the Census area Manager for Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.
Good news the census office wants to work closely with the third sector as they have realised how close the sector works with the communities . So much so they are looking to recruit individuals who have a good working knowledge of the communities . This is an ideal opportunity for staff and volunteers of the Third Sector to apply.
By being involved with the census the third sector staff and volunteers will in many cases be helping their very own clients who may be concerned at having to complete a census form. The paid staff will be able to reassure them and importantly help them complete the form very much like we all do with the benefit forms and other various official documents.
So if you are interested why not go on line to www.censusjobs.co.uk or alternatively give me a ring and I will explain in a little more detail as the recruiting agent for the Office of National Statistics is phoning me in the next few days with more information.
And before I forget Ceri did say that if any third sector groups would like her to visit them to explain the census in detail and how its going to work then she is happy to come and meet up with them day or night and talk to the staff, trustees and volunteers. Now there's an offer thats hard to refuse.
